Classic, Everyday bag! | Diaper bag edition

So after going through airports, riding in rentals and hauling an unimaginable amount of stuff, this bag helped us out the most through our travels! This is the [Classic Diaper Bag] from Pottery Barn Kids that I've had my eye on for FOREVER, even before I was pregnant with P but last Christmas, Devon surprised me with another diaper bag for so I was able to check that necessity off of my list - WELL.... I still ended up with it and I am soooooo glad I have it. This bag is gigantic. I mean, HUGE. Ginormous. You get the point. I thought my diaper bag held a lot? So wrong. But the best part?? This isn't JUST a diaper bag... This is literally an everything bag. From blankets, swaddles, bottles, formula, water bottles, shoes, outfits, magazines, P's iPad, and seriously, if we needed to carry it, it went straight into this piece of 'luggage'. And I use that term because it doubles as an overnight bag as well but it isn't insanely obnoxious. I've carried bigger style bags ever since I've carried a bag so this fit right into my life.
So Mamas, if you're in the diaper bag/overnight bag market and are looking for a really good, durable bag, THIS it is. You'll even get a changing pad with it that's really good size and matches with the color exterior.
Oh, and rolling around Disney for the ENTIRE day with this thing loaded up to the MAX, I can say with confidence that this bag is really durable and made really, really well! I don't see this falling apart anytime soon and it's so far, been money well spent!

• Life Essentials: Laundry Detergent •

This obviously isn't a conversation starter and no one really thinks to inquire about what brand of detergent you recently picked up from Target over the weekend as it's one of the last things you'd think about switching but you probably should. Especially if you have little ones!
I had been using (and still do at times) The Honest Brand for all of our laundry... Way before I was even pregnant with Penelope so I had my fair share of testing before spit-up happened in my life. And for our daily clothing wear, it worked perfectly. It had all of the things I was looking for as far as laundry was concerned: No fragrance, meant for a high-efficiency washer, and of course, cleaning power. But after P came along, and for nearly 6 months of her life, she had horrible acid-reflux, The Honest Brand wasn't working to get out the stains. I always tried my best not to use Clorox or OxiClean but sometimes there was nothing else I could use in order to save her Aden + Anais blankets or cute white onesies that she got to rock for a minute before they became stained... Sigh. UNTIL I began searching for a good brand that was a brightener, spot-treater and detergent all in one AND of course to my green-fashion, it had to be hypoallergenic and safe for newborns and I finaaaally found it: [Molly's Suds].
I have been happily doing laundry for the last 2 months with this stuff - something you definitely don't think of saying about doing all things such as laundry!
I first purchased the [ Molly's Suds Starter Package ] to test everything out and see if it was something that would work so I definitely suggest this package first.. Even the wool dryer balls are a really cool thing for us because it's become the norm to wash a few things at a time rather than waiting to wash when you have a big load so when I go to dry the clothes, the balls help everything dry evenly so they don't get stuck on one side and go an entire dry-cycle, still wet at the end. They are also amazing for big loads, like washing sheets and towels - always mixing everything up so they are sure to get dry, even with a slammed-full dryer!

We also use the dog shampoo for our dogs and it works really well for them. We have a German Shepherd and Golden Retriever and both of them have crazy sensitive skin... So much so, that they're on special food that we have to order from Texas - Crazy, right!? so when they need a bath, we were always prepared for them to be itching like crazzzzzzy afterwards but since we started using this, we haven't noticed any irritation on them at all. Even though it works like a charm, I wouldn't be being honest if I didn't mention that it doesn't really suds up the way a normal soap would and that takes some time getting used to but it cleans them effectively nonetheless and leaves them smelling just like the product in the bottle and they NEVER itch afterwards which is a HUGE deal for our little guys.

Don't forget to use code DISCOVER for 20% through today on your entire order!!
This is a really good deal and you won't be disappointed xo

This works sooo well with Devon's hunting clothes and my workout gear
For our everyday wash and spot-cleaner
For our pups
This goes above and beyond when cleaning whites that spit-up has messed up

| BB Cream and Tinted Moisturizer Picks |

I've tried every BB Cream and tinted moisturizer under the sun - literally - and this moisturizer & BB Cream combo are my absolute favorites.. and they are perfect for the summer months because their staying power is amazing and they don't have the typical melt-on-your-face problem, which clearly no one would be a fan of. These two products are light, creamy and actually cover and  easily blend imperfections away without feeling super heavy and cake-like AND they offer SPF sooooo these are basically perfect in every aspect. You can be sure to get the lil beauties at Nordstrom ;)

Favorite Honest Products

I've been using Honest products for over a year now and I've been nothing but happy with absolutely everything I've got from them. Before Target started carrying their stuff, it was always a guessing game for which items to buy so I ended up getting the Bundle package and trying IT. ALL. So here are my absolute must-haves from Honest.com so you don't have to play the guessing game that I did.
I do use other brands for things such as wipes for P and laundry detergent for all of us (which I'll share in the next post) that aren't Honest brand but still organic and natural.

1) Organic Baby Powder: I posted about the Burt's Bees Baby Powder not long ago and I still love that powder but this is my favorite since I purchased it because it's actually USDA Organic and not just labeled as "Natural" and it's still Talc-free, which is exactly why I bought the Burt's Bees in the first place, so this one is a bonus with the certified organic label.

2) Honest Conditioner: This smells AMAZING. I use this for P when her scalp gets a little dry and it really helps keep it moisturized and it's not irritating to her at all.

3) Honest Shampoo + Body Wash: we use this often, and I even use this for myself because it smells like an orange dreamsicle.... Ughh, I'm obsessed.

4) Honest Diapers: We have used these on Penelope since she was a newborn! I also use Seventh Generation diapers from Target and I have no preference over either diaper, although I personally gravitate towards the Honest brand because they're a lot cuter but more importantly, Neither the SG or Honest diapers ever leak and that's especially important since P is currently sleeping through the night.

5) Honest Cleaning Products: ALL OF THEM ARE AMAZING. I use every single one and they do the job without the strong smell that store-brand household cleaners have. Although I have them all, I personally love the Multi-Surface Cleaner and the Bathroom Cleaner.. I use these two almost daily.

6) Dish Soap: I currently use this dish soap to clean Penelope's bottles.. It lasts a looooong time too so I find that it's worth it and work just the same as other specific bottle cleaners that other companies have.

7) Dryer Sheets: These dryer sheets are somewhat moist, which is unlike any other dryer sheet I've tried in the past.. They make your laundry soft and I love the fact that they are naturally unscented so you can add essential oils to the dryer cloth so you have the option to change the scent from one dry to the next. I love to add lavender oil when I wash our sheets and they always smell soooo amazing.. I stock up on oils from Whole Foods and Amazon!

8) Honest Sunscreen SPF 30: If we're needing sunscreen, I'd rather it be healthy and not filled with unnecessary chemicals and this stuff is great for the health factor, it's not thick and it easily absorbs into the skin.. This wins over other sunscreens I've tried from other natural companies such as Babyganics etc.

The Honest Life ^
I suggest this book to anyone that wants to know more about the chemicals that lurk in our day-to-day products. It opened my eyes to certain products that claim to be "healthy" and "natural" but are actually FILLED with things that are FAR from good - when you know better, you do better. Xx

Baby FAVORITES Pt.1

The very moment you become a mom, everything hits you all at once.... It's basically the only time in your life, that in a split second, you become an absolute pro, with no prior practice or training. No doctor or nurse can tell you what's best because your instinct does that for you - you're the momma.. You get the mom-instinct immediately. Also, for the rest of your life, you're blessed with 4 arms because Lord knows I use my feet to pick up, move objects and even open doors now without a second thought - But one thing that you don't get right away are all of the things your baby will love or even hate. When I signed up for my registry, as I'm sure all moms-to-be do, I registered for it ALL. I had no idea what I would love or what we would even use and I had no one my age that had a brand new infant to walk me through it so I've compiled a list of my absolute FAVORITE things that I don't even travel without, let alone go a day without using. Even if you aren't a mommy yet, or not even close to becoming one, I KNOW you're getting invited to baby showers and some of these are the perfect inexpensive gifts that you can get for that mama2be.

1 - 4moms Breeze Playard This is the easiest playard out. It's compact, and easy to open which saves so much hassle while you're holding a screaming infant trying to open this thing. Beyond simple and practical for all mamas.
2 - Fisher Price My Little Lamb Swing The was HANDS DOWN the best purchase we made. Do NOT forget to put this on your registry like we did. Penelope sleeps like a PERFECT angel in this thing and we have traveled with this EVERY SINGLE TIME we've been out of town since we've had it. We won't stay overnight anywhere without it. Simply put: It's a LIFESAVER.
3 - Burts BeesWax Tear Free Shampoo This shampoo/body wash smells like a baby in a bottle. I use Honest products too but I absolutely love using this because it smells sooo good and it's gentle on P's skin, which obviously overrides the great smell any day.
4 - Aiden + Anais Musy Mate I just blogged about this on my @babys_best Instagram because I absolutely adore this little security blanket and so does Penelope. She would always kick off her blanket during naps and bedtime because she's a hot-blooded little thing, just like me, and well, long story short, she would wake up wanting to hold her blanket because she's recently discovered the grasping effect, but it would be past her little feet and she would get frustrated and throw a fit so I would pull the blanket up, she would kick it off and history just kept repeating itself so I found the perfect balance with this little thing because she can hold onto it all the while kicking her little feet and staying cool with the blankets off. Win-win.
5 - Quinny Moodd Stroller A stroller is like a car. An investment. For something that you'll use every day, you need the thing to be able to keep up and this stroller is perfect for that. The tires are rubber and filled with air - not like other strollers with cheap plastic tires that get flat spots in them or can't roll over hard surfaces. The Quinny can go through sand, over rocks, in the grass - wherever you need it, it can go. I'm a stroller hoarder and I can say that I will back this brand for life because I have TWO myself. One aluminum frame for traveling and the heavier white frame for daily errands. This stroller is worth every penny, I promise! Plus, it grows with the child. You can detach the toddler seat and attach the infant car seat for the perfect grow-with-me feature. Plus, it has great storage underneath for shopping ;)
6 - Tommee Tippee Bottles These bottles are amazing, especially if you end up like me and switch from breast feeding to bottle feeding due to supplementing. Trust me when I say that I tried every bottle on the market.. I asked for different brands on our registry and I also purchased some other brands myself and these were the ONLY bottles P would take. These bottles also come in a variety of colors for both boys and girls so you can't go wrong with functioning cuteness.
7 - Baby Brezza Formula Pro It's 2am and you need to make a bottle - That is the exact reason why you need this. No other words necessary. It's a bit tricky to put together but I promise that you'll be so glad once you do. It's literally the Keurig for babies. Get one.... Or two.. I really don't think you can have too many of these things.
8 - Aiden + Anais Bamboo Blankets If you know me, you know I'm obsessed with anything made by A+A but these Bamboo blankets take the cake, in fact, I caught Devon using one as a blanket last night.... They're that amazing. And not only are they great for sleeping, but they're amazing as a stroller cover, breastfeeding cover, general bib to wipe messy faces and the best part is that they hold together through the many, many washes that you can imagine they're put through.
9 - LEVANA Snuza Oma Clip We all know the risks associated with infants and their breathing and well, for any new mom or even an experienced one, that is pretty concerning & scary, so that's why I had to have this perfect little monitoring clip for when Penelope sleeps. I decided to go with this over all other brands because it fits snuggly over her diaper and it actually touches her belly to monitor breaths, not feeling for movement through a mattress like some other brands. I just didn't trust that. I also love how portable this device is... I just put it in the case it came in and throw it in her diaper bag and we're ready to go. No wires, no bulky monitoring systems... Just what you see and that's it. I would spend $99 over and over if it meant I would know my daughter is safe.. There's absolutely no price on her life and that's why I saved this for last because in my eyes, if you couldn't or didn't buy a single other item I mentioned, then at least invest in this. :)

FYI: For what I could find, I linked the Target website to certain items so you can at least save 5%, especially for some of the high-ticket items.

Here's a shellac-hack THAT WORKS!!!! I've been using for a few weeks and my polish lasts almost an entire 7 days without chipping/cracking and it stays shiny!

Step 2: Apply Quick Dry basecoat

Step 3: Apply Gelous polish.. Purchased this at SALLYS

Step 4: Apply any polish that you prefer

(Optional) Step 5: Apply another coat of Gelous

Step 6: Apply Seche Vite top coat - Can be found at Target

-- Do each step and make sure you allow some time between coats to ensure they are dried a bit and not still wet.

Get Ready For Summer - Bronzed Edition x

While my peaceful babygirl naps, I'm finally able to finish this blog post for y'all!

I stopped using tanning beds almost 2 years ago... I used to get spray tans at the tanning place all of the time but when I became pregnant, spray tans weren't really recommended but my obsession with having a healthy glow still remained so that's when I started searching for a REALLY good self-tanner to use that A) Wouldn't streak B) Was easy to apply and C) DIDN'T leave you looking that oh-so-NOT-fabulous color of orange that everyone dreads - That's when I came across this per the sales associate at ULTA and I haven't used anything else since! I've tried all of the high-end brands along with cheap drugstore ones and nothing has compared to this stuff (and honestly, it works just as well as St.Tropez, in my opinion - plus cheaper!) I LOOOVE that this is a foam and not a spray, which makes application sooo easy and I also love that I can get perfect control of how much product is applied to my hands and feet so I don't end up with the horrible splotching that I noticed I would get when I paid for a spray tan. It also has color that is applied immediately and it continues to darken over a few hours, which is why I choose to apply mine at night and take a shower in the AM. The best part???! It HARDLY has an after-smell - and by hardly, I mean basically non-exsistant!!!! One bottle seems to last for forever.. I apply once, maybe twice a week, depending on what's going on and it would seriously last probably close to 2 weeks before it fades. This stuff is ammmmazing! Go to ULTA and buy yourself this Bronze Glow or buy from their website here - for $12.99 you cannot go wrong!!!  Don't forget to buy the mitt as well to help with even applicaton ;)

Preparing for Summer|Makeup Edition

Well, it looks like I was feeling very coral-esqu during my trip to Florida.... I didn't even realize that I was obviously being attracted to all things bright when I purchased all of this at Target, which clearly means I have summertime on the brain - and BAD!!! I think I'm seeing what my summer color picks will be in a few short months ;)

Side note: I HIGHLY recommend the Revlon blush!! It looks more pigmented than it is, but it is REALLY buildable and the perfect coral shade.. If you don't get anything else, buy this!.. Or the Maybelline Color Whispers because they are THAT AMAAAAZING!

MAC Mineralized Highlighter - Soft and Gentle
Revlon Liquid Highlighter - Bare Light
Revlon Blush - Classy Coral (LOVE THIS ONE!!!)
Maybelline Color Whisper - Coral Ambition
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable lip stain - Rendezvous (brighter one) / Charm (Nude one)
Revlon Colorburst lipgloss - Bellini
MAC blush brush (2013 holiday kit) - #168

Pinecone Wreath - EASY DIY xo

About a week ago, I posted a pinecone wreath that I made on my Instagram. I got inspired by a beautiful lookalike wreath that I found online that they were selling for around, I believe, $170. Well, I knew it didn't look terribly difficult and I knew I could easily make my own for waaaay cheaper, so I began my hunt on pinterest and viola! I found the perfect DIY to make the wreath and it even looked similar to the one I was going to buy. Here's the link to Aimee's blog and where my idea came from <3 Pinecone Wreath DIY
I got all of my supplies at Michael's and I ended up having to use wooden wreath forms rather than the embroidery hoops that she used. I also wrapped my wooden wreath forms in burlap to ensure the pinecones would stay on. All of this, including spray paint and glitter, was only about $36! xo

Perfect Winter-Time DIY Body Butter recipe!!!!

This body butter is so easy to make but I had to go to two different stores, Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, to get the two ingredients that this body butter contains: Coconut oil and Shea Butter - That's it!!!! Here's how I make it:

  1. Scoop the Shea Butter into a pot on the stove over low heat - stir until completely melted. (Remember: Coconut Oil and Shea Butter have super low heating points so you only need minimal heat to get the job done.)
  2. Once the Shea Butter has melted, scoop the coconut oil into the pot with the melted Shea butter and continue to stir until that's completely melted. *You can put the coconut oil in the microwave to help soften it if it's a little tough to get out.
  3. Once everything has melted and blended together, remove from stovetop and start filling the Coconut Oil jar back up, along with any other jars, with the new blend and set inside the refrigerator with the tops off so it hardens faster.
  4. Once it's a solid again, you're ready to use it!
Trader Joe's Coconut Oil - It's
typically white, but in this pic it's filled with
the liquid mixture
In Whole Foods, you scoop the amount of Shea Butter
into this little container and they weigh it and
price it. Just scoop as much as you want
to use.. I probably bought 3/4 cup of Shea Butter for this body butter.

***I chose Trader Joe's Coconut Oil over all of the other brands because TJ's has the distinct coconut smell and all others seem to be odorless and although they work the exact same, I prefer the beachy/coconut smell. Also, the Shea Butter has it's own smell but once it's mixed and melted with the coconut oil, all you can smell is the coconut... delicious!!!

// Lushie //

I think everyone can agree that LUSH is ah-mazing! And these 3 newest products that I picked up are no exception!

Karma Kream
The smell of this lotion is so delicious and fall-esque that I'm literally going to take it with me everywheeeeere! The scent is best described as fruity pebbles with added Patchouli. Although I'm beyond in-love with this lotion, I definitely don't think it's for everyone. My best suggestion would be that you apply it on your hands/arms in the store and let it soak in and then step outside the store so you can get the full effect of the scent and then go from there because this is a strong scent that WILL last ALL DAY LONG!

The Olive Branch:
This shower gel is nothing short of amazing. It's a thin consistency but a little bit goes a long way and it suds up perfectly, even with a small amount. I originally purchased the smallest bottle to use as a tester but I use it so much that I went back right away to purchase the full size! It's surprisingly very moisturizing but definitely not oily in any way... I originally thought "olive oil".. Oily... But it's most definitely not.

Enchanted Eye Cream:
This eye cream has the lightest scent and it literally feels like silk going on to your skin! It's supposed to help diminish fine lines and to help tighten skin over time and I've been using it for about 2 weeks and I can definitely tell a difference with the tightness under my eyes along with the dark circles that sometimes appear if I don't get enough sleep. Well worth the money and the smallest amount works wonders!
